چکیده

Numerical simulation of two-dimensional incompressible viscous ̄ows around an obstacle is considered. Two horizontal straight line arti®cial boundaries are introduced and the original ̄ow is approximated by a ̄ow in an in®nite channel with slip boundary condition on the wall. Then two vertical segment arti®cial boundaries are introduced and a series of approximate arti®cial boundary conditions on them are derived by imposing the continuity of velocity and the normal stress. Thus the original problem is reduced to a problem de®ned in a bounded computational domain. The well-posedness of the reduced problem is proved. The ®nite element approximation of this problem is given and error estimates are obtained. Furthermore numerical examples show the accuracy and ef®ciency of our arti®cial boundary conditions. Boundary conditions on artificial frontiers for incompressible and compressible Navier-Stokes equations

Non reflecting boundary conditions on artificial frontiers of the domain axe proposed for both incompressible and compressible Navier-Stokes équations. For incompressible flows, the boundary conditions lead to a well-posed problem, convey properly the vortices without any reflections on the artificial limits and allow to compute turbulent flows at high Reynolds numbers. For compressible flows, ...

What Slip Boundary Conditions Induce a Well–Posed Problem for the Navier–Stokes Equation?

The system (1), (2) describes the motion of a viscous incompressible fluid with a constant density (we assume that it equals one). We denote by u the velocity, by p the pressure, by f the specific body force and by ν the coefficient of viscosity. The equation (1) expresses the balance of momentum and the equation (2) represents the condition of incompressibility. By a well–posed problem we mean...

The Normal Form of the Navier-stokes Equations in Suitable Normed Spaces

We consider solutions to the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations on the periodic domain Ω = [0, 2π] with potential body forces. Let R ⊆ H(Ω) denote the set of all initial data that lead to regular solutions. Our main result is to construct a suitable Banach space S A such that the normalization map W : R → S A is continuous, and such that the normal form of the Navier–Stokes equations is a w...
